GSC C-205918. Advance Mountain (Ordovician of Canada)

Where: British Columbia, Canada (56.0° N, 123.3° W: paleocoordinates 4.0° N, 63.0° W)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Belodina compressa conodont zone, Lower Member (Advance Formation), Turinian (457.3 - 453.8 Ma)

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: slope; lithified, dolomitic, argillaceous limestone and lithified, calcareous shale

• environmental interpretation from paper, but this is almost certainly incorrect and no evidence is presented to suggest a slope setting
• Argillaceous, aphanitic to very fine grained, dark grey, weathering light grey and dull grey, platy, recessive; bedding 2-20 cm, wavy, some beds nodular. Limy shale interbeds 10-150Jo of rocks, olive-grey, weathering dull oli ve-grey; bedding 0.5-3 cm. Rare greyish black chert nodules (with off-white coronae) in upper 5 m.

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: replaced with silica
