Where: Scotland, United Kingdom (56.8° N, 2.5° W: paleocoordinates 21.1° S, 9.9° W)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Dundee Formation (Arbuthnott Group), Lochkovian (419.2 - 410.8 Ma)
• In terms of the spore zonation scheme proposed by Richardson and McGregor (1986) they belong with the micrornatus-newportensis Spore Assemblage Biozone (MN zone). More recently Richardson has subdivided this zone, and the Canterland Den assemblages can be equated with the lower subzone of the MN zone (lower MN subzone) (see Richardson et al.,1981,1984; Richardson,1996). The lower MN subzone indicates an early (but not earliest) Lochkovian age.
