When: K. ortus absidata conodont zone, Djupvik Member (Halla Formation), Silurian (443.8 - 419.2 Ma)
Environment/lithology: limestone and marl
Size class: macrofossils
Preservation: original calcite, replaced with calcite
Collection methods: hydrochloric
• All specimens were photographed, some of them having been whitened with sublimated ammonium chloride (NH4Cl). Two thin sections were prepared from the specimen from Sudervik-2 (longitudinal and transverse section; embedded in limestone), one from a specimen from Djupvik-1 (longitudinal section, embedded in marl), one from a specimen from V€ars€andeojk (longitudinal section, embedded in limestone). The sample from Sudervik-2 was also prepared for SEM study. It was glued to an aluminium stub, ground with corundum powder (800), and etched with 0.1N hydrochloric acid for 30 s. A longitudinal thin section was prepared from a Spyroceras specimen embedded in limestone
