Environment/lithology: marine; argillaceous shale

• An argillaceous unit with partings of thin to moderately thick layers of carbonate concretions in its lower part. A few mollusc-rich shell concentrations, which are persistent over a large area, occur in this part of the formation. Sometimes the shell concentrations are associated with carbonate concretions.
