• Dolostone beds, 15 m thick, in the upper part of the Piauí Formation, contain a rich Middle Pennsylvanian (Morrowan-Desmoinesian) fauna

Environment/lithology: platform or shelf-margin reef; carbonate

• beds document a period of sea-level rise and resulting transgression, when a large carbonate and evaporite platform developed
• Dolostone beds, 15 m thick, in the upper part of the Piauí Formation

Size class: macrofossils

• All studied specimens were collected from three carbonate facies of the Piauí formation
