Where: Santa Maria County, California (34.9° N, 120.5° W: paleocoordinates 34.8° N, 119.9° W)
When: Foxen Mudstone Formation, Gelasian (2.6 - 1.8 Ma)
Environment/lithology: marine; lithified mudstone and siltstone
•mudstone and clayey siltstone with diatomaceous
•shale interbedded in its lower part. Limestone
•concretions and phosphatic pellets are
•widespread throughout. Lenticular conglomerates
•are present at the base of the section.
Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils, microfossils
Preservation: original aragonite, original calcite
