Prapatnica (Cretaceous of Croatia)

Where: Croatia (43.6° N, 16.2° E: paleocoordinates 28.7° N, 16.9° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Campanian (83.6 - 72.1 Ma)

• Bardack & Teller-Marshall assigned a Cenomanian-Turonian age, but Murray et al. (2016) said that Prapatnica is considered to be of Senonian, probably Campanian, age (Radovčić et al., 1983).

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lithified wackestone

• These limestones with sporadic turbiditic layers might indicate shelf margin or off-reef facies. However, considering the overall geological picture of the Adriatic carbonate platform, we could ascribe these fish-bearing limestones to the environment within the inner carbonate platform, probably the inner reef slope with significant communication with an off-reef area.
• Thin layers of limestones determined as oligosteginid wackestone/packstone limestones.

Size class: macrofossils

Collected by D. Bardack, I. Crnolatac, J. Radovčić in 1972
