Winduss Road (Ordovician of Australia)

Where: Tasmania, Australia (41.3° S, 146.0° E: paleocoordinates 7.8° N, 179.1° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Gordon Group, Katian (453.0 - 445.2 Ma)

• "...trilobites described as part of this contribution come from a stratigraphic level near the top of the sequence, which has been correlated with the Den Formation (in the Chudleigh Subgroup) and Upper Limestone Member (in the Benjamin Limestone) (see top of Gunns Plains section in Webby 1991). This would place the trilobites described here within the OT18 assemblage zone, equivalent to late Eastonian (Ea3, Katian). This corresponds with ‘faunas C’ of Percival (1992) in New South Wales, formally named the Anomoglossa–Durranella–Parkesolithus Assemblage Zone by Pickett & Percival (2001)." (p. 497)

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; lithified, gray, calcareous shale

• "light-grey, thinly bedded, calcitic shale"

Size class: macrofossils
