Tianjun area (upper Dajialian Formation) (Triassic of China)

Where: Qinghai, China (37.5° N, 99.3° E: paleocoordinates 29.8° N, 81.1° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Dajialian Formation, Anisian (247.2 - 242.0 Ma)

• Upper Dajialian Formation. The top c. 15-20 m of the limestone unit is highly fossiliferous, and the brachiopod specimens are preserved as carbonate shells. Below those bioclastic limestones are micrites intercalated with cherty layers. Specimens with silicified shells including brachiopods and bivalves are common in this part of the Dajialian Formation.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lithified limestone

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: replaced with silica

Collection methods: Repository: State Key Laboratory of Biogeology and Environmental Geology, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Wuhan, China
