Environment/lithology: shoreface; mudstone and sandstone

• The bivalve faunas are found in close association with volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks indicating that the Camnant Formation was deposited was deposited relatively near-shore around volcanic islands.
• The Camnant Mudstone Formation is composed predominantly of mudstones in it's lower portion. The upper potion of the formation, which lies low in the D. murchisoni biozone, is mudstone interlayered with sandstone and thin tuffs. Collections are taken from the lenticular, discontinuous sandstone horizons.
