Where: Slope County, North Dakota (46.3° N, 103.9° W: paleocoordinates 52.0° N, 79.5° W)
• coordinate stated in text
• hand sample-level geographic resolution
When: Fort Union Formation, Danian (66.0 - 61.6 Ma)
• Sample height relative to Fort Union and Hell Creek formation contact.
Environment/lithology: "floodplain"; mudstone
Size class: microfossils
Preservation: original sporopollenin
Collection methods: bulk, chemical, hydrochloric, hydroflouric
• Samples were collected in the freshly excavated stratigraphic sections. Visible cracks were avoided when sampling to prevent cross contamination between lithological units. Samples were sent to Global GeoLabs Ltd. in Canada for preparation, where standard processing allowed for reliable quantitative work and comparisons between samples. Slides were analyzed using the microscope at the Palaeobotany Department of the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris.
