Environment/lithology: marine; tuffaceous, gray sandstone

• Chekhov Formation with light gray sandstones of tuffogenic origin with rare thin interlayers of brown coals and rare spherical nodules about 15 cm in average diameter. The nodules consist of gray fine-grained sandstone with siliceous-carbonate cement, and contain small inclusions of plant remains and shells of bivalves Macoma sp. and Nuculana sp.
