Where: Saratov, Russian Federation (52.5° N, 46.6° E: paleocoordinates 49.2° N, 40.2° E)
• coordinate estimated from map
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Kalinino Formation, Ypresian (56.0 - 47.8 Ma)
• Top of the sandy member of the Kalinino Formation. Lower Ypresian (NP 10-11). Modern dating of the formation by spore-pollen complexes, dinoflagellates and dinocysts dates it as early Ypresian (NP 10-11). The highest occurrence of Otodus obliquus takes place within zone NP12. Therefore, the presence of Otodus obliquus in the Kalinino Formation indicated the early Ypresian age of the assemblage (its stratigraphic position is not higher than NP12 nannoplankton zone).
