Taxonomic list

• From Pocknall and Nichols 1996: 'Relative abundance (percentage) data were derived initially on the basis of counts of 200 specimens per sample. Dominance of assemblages from most samples by inaperturate pollen necessitated that these palynomorphs be excluded from our pollen sum in order to evaluate the abundance of the other species. Additional counts were then made until a total of 200 specimens exclusive of inaperturates had been counted for each sample. After completion of counting, slides were scanned and the presence of species not included in the count were recorded.’

•Abundance data have been entered here based on the initial counts (i.e. those that included the inaperturate pollen), with abundances from the additional counts included as comments for the relevant taxa. Taxa without abundance data were those recorded as present in the post-count scans.
