Environment/lithology: red, calcareous mudstone and yellow, silty, calcareous shale

• Environmental call by T. Hanson.
• "10 m of yellow-weathered silty calcareous shale, with common beds of sublithographic to slightly silty limestone in beds to 7 cm. . . . 32 m of yellow to red, massive calcareous mudstone. About 3 m from the top of the unit thin sandstone beds appear, and the uppermost 2, 3 m is composted of sandstone in beds to 1 m, with thin shaly interbeds. The sandstone is light grey, weathering rusty, fine to medium grained, and well sorted. It contains quartz, feldspar, and common pyrite, and more or less calcite (and dolomite?) cement. The shale interbeds are yellowish-green, silty and non-calcareous at first, becoming finely sandy and calcareous at the top."
