• General for this succession of communities: "Unlike the Carnic Alps, the Silurian-Devonian of Sardinia displays a far less variegated facies picture, being almost exclusively developed in shallow to deeper pelagic environments, with the minor exception of the Emsian Mt. Padenteddu mud mound." For this community: "This is an environmentally limited community spanning the "Orthoceras" Limestone Community (i.e. outer BA 4-6), representing high energy event deposition in a normally low energy environment. The Mason Porcus section probably represents a BA 5 position."
