Upper Lower Member of Foum Ennemil Shale at Foum Ennemil (Silurian to of Algeria)

Where: Algeria (26.6° N, 5.6° E: paleocoordinates 76.2° S, 69.7° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Foum Ennemil Shale Formation, Wenlock to Wenlock (433.4 - 419.2 Ma)

• Lower member; graptolites indicate at least part of Wenlock, Ludlow, and Pridoli all present.

• member-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: offshore; claystone

• According to paleogeographic map in ref. 7455, this section would be some 100km S of Ludlow shoreline and some 500km S of Pridoli shoreline. The shoreline, according to this map, migrated some 1000km from the SE to the NW (present-day coordinates) during the Llandovery to Gedinnian timespan.

•SEP environmental call based on given lith. and basic geological data provided by source ref. (PBDB 7455)

• "argile"
