• 0-10 cm thick red crinoidal limestone with brachiopods overlies the Rhaetian limestone and it is capped by the ferromanganese "Marmorea Crust", .

Environment/lithology: deep subtidal ramp; lithified, condensed, ferruginous, shelly/skeletal packstone
•Microfacies: echinoderm-foram biomicrite with gastropods (wacke- to packstone). Intercalated hardgrounds may consist of brownish-yellow phosphatic sediment or of dark Fe/mn oxides
