Shelly Fauna, Longjing Fm at Huanghuachong, W of Longjing, Wudang, Guizhou Prov. (Ordovician of China)

Where: Guizhou, China (26.6° N, 106.8° E: paleocoordinates 13.1° N, 129.0° E)

• coordinate based on political unit

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Longjing Formation, Late/Upper Ordovician (458.4 - 443.8 Ma)

• Except where otherwise stated, ref. 7624 uses Lower Silurian as equivalent to Llandovery, Middle Silurian as equivalent to Wenlock, and Upper Silurian as equivalent to Ludlow plus Pridoli. "Yang and Wang [1977] consider that the evidence provided by the forms of Plasmoporella and Heliolites indicate a correlation with Late Ordovician European and Asian forms from elsewhere; they correlate the Longjing with the early late Ordovician. Thus there is a disconformity between the Longjing and the overlying Lower Kaochaitien Fm. of Silurian age."

• formation-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; gray limestone

• "The rocks consist of gray, massive, crystalline limestone with a thickness of 10 m. The shelly fossils include [list]..."
