Dinnyes Dolomite Fm Alcsutdoboz-2 borehole 924.5 to 924.0m Alcsutdoboz (Permian of Hungary)

Where: Hungary (47.4° N, 18.6° E: paleocoordinates 0.8° S, 31.4° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Dolomite Member (Dinnyes Dolomite Formation), Changhsingian (254.2 - 252.2 Ma)

• Transdanubian Central Range - On the basis of geological features of the Permian Fms and of the Lower Triassic facies respectively, two areas can be delineated with a transition zone in between. In the NE part of the range from the Budapest area up to the Lake Velence area, the latest Permian Dinnyes Dolomite Fm grades with no break in sedimentation into the Alcsutdoboz Limestone Fm, the bulk of which is Triassic.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lagoonal or restricted shallow subtidal; dolomitic, gray, yellow, calcareous wackestone

• In text: As a result of sea level fluctuations the upper member of the Dinnyes Dolomite Fm is represented by a cyclic lagoonal facies consisting of an alternation of yellowish-gray dolomite, dark-grey calcareous dolomite and dolomitic limestone as well as light grey limestone. In the uppermost cycle the Dolomitic Mb, with a staedy increase in CaCO3 content, grades into a limestone facies. The transitional member is 1.0 to 1.5 m thick...A layer of transitional dolomite-limestone composition, algal biomicrite (wackestone).

•In log: yellowish gray calcareous dolomite micrite wackestone

Size class: microfossils

Preservation: original calcite, original sporopollenin

Collection methods: core, chemical, sieve
