When: Valea Tereziei Member (Steierdorf Formation), Hettangian to Hettangian (201.3 - 190.8 Ma)

• Within the area of Anina, the Steierdorf Fm belongs to the so-called Anina facies, that represents the central facies of this formation in the Resita Basin. it includes 3 members, in the following succession: Budinic Mb, basal and coarse, the Valea Tereziei Mb, fine and median an the Uteris Mb, represented by black bituminous shales.

Environment/lithology: fluvial-lacustrine; black sandstone

• The intermediary sequence between coal seams 7 and 8 is maximum 10m thick

•including black, compact sandstones. The roof layer (the layer directly

•overlaying the seam) of coal seam 7 is very rich in fossil plants.
