• A number of authors working on the fossil flora in the
•schists in this basin think that the age ranges from Eocene to Oligocene. Plants are in layers of silicious "sapropèle" produced by algae.

Collection methods: Fossils are from the Collections of the Laboratoire de Géologie de la Faculté des Sciences de Clermont-Ferrand. The Trionyx specimen (very bad state of preservation) was found in a pyrite nodule.
