Environment/lithology: offshore; claystone and siltstone

• "In the sequence of flysch-like sediments, the siltstones and claystones prevail, the greywacke component being strongly reduced in thin laminae. Fossiliferous layers mostly belong to the shale facies of a flysch character and pronounced rhythms of cm-order. The rhythms mostly show positive gradation: the base is usually represented by a fairly coarse greywacke component, the higher part consists of siltstones to pelites. Abundant organic remains are usually concentrated in thin dark organic rich laminae in the upper part of the sequence."
