Also known as Kivalina fauna

Where: Northwest Arctic County, Alaska (67.8° N, 164.7° W: paleocoordinates 68.0° N, 164.3° W)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Late/Upper Pliocene (3.6 - 2.6 Ma)

• Black organic clay, pebbly clay, and silty sand, having a total thickness of 10-15 feet, resting upon Mississippian limestone bedrock, and overlain by 10-15 feet of light olive gray sand free pebble gravel and sandy pebble garvel and 5 to 10 feet of windblown silt.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

• Probably represents a wave-cut cliff carved during the maximum landward transgression of Chukchi Sea during late Cenozoic time
• Black organic clay, pebbly clay, and silty sand
