Where: Gansu, China (36.7° N, 103.4° E: paleocoordinates 36.6° N, 101.2° E)

When: Hsienshuiho Member (Kansu Formation), Miocene (23.0 - 5.3 Ma)

• Chiu et al. (1979) say Late Miocene, but other sites of the same date in this paper have been revised to Middle Miocene by Qiu (1990).

Environment/lithology:

• 'Brown marly clays and red clay loams with selenite and gypsite; and yellow sands. Mammalian fossils occur in the marly clay at Chuantou near Hsienshuiho.'
