Smith Clark's quarry, Milford (level B) (Triassic of the United States)

Where: Hunterdon County, New Jersey (40.6° N, 75.1° W: paleocoordinates 15.1° N, 20.1° W)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Perkasie Member (Passaic Formation), Norian (228.0 - 208.5 Ma)

• originally upper part of Brunswick Formation, equivalent to Middle Keuper; 5100 m above base of Triassic

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; gray shale and gray sandstone

• "The sandstone overlying the recording surface...quarries out in layered flagstones 1.5 to 3.5 cm. thick; the flat upper surfaces typically bear shallow ripples and run-off marks. Shrinkage cracks of variable width are common. Raindrops have pitted both ground surface and footprints." Otherwise similar to level A sediments (gray shale and gray sandstone)

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: cast, mold/impression, trace

Collected by S. Clark, J. Eyerman in 1885-1887; reposited in the AMNH, MCZ

Collection methods: quarrying, surface (in situ),

• collected by John Eyerman
