Sample 15SW 14 - Prati di Stuores/Stuores Wiesen Section, Dolomites (Triassic of Italy)

Where: Italy (46.5° N, 11.4° E: paleocoordinates 13.5° N, 19.4° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Lower Member (San Cassiano Formation), Carnian (237.0 - 228.0 Ma)

• The lower member ("Untere Cassianer Schichten", UCS) overlies the La Valle Formation. Sample 15SW 14: 140.78 m from the stake 1. Daxatina cf. canadense subzone, lower Carnian.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: deep subtidal; lithified mixed carbonate-siliciclastic sediments

• Alternations of siliciclastic and carbonate turbidites, deposited in a relatively deep basin, absence of unconformities and a gradual upward increase in sedimentation rate and carbonate content. No sudden or significant facies change in the entire section.
• The lower member consists of alternating siltstones, claystones, calcarenites marly limestones and turbidity vulcanoarenites.

Size class: microfossils
