Sample 3SW 2.5 - Prati di Stuores/Stuores Wiesen Section, Dolomites (Triassic of Italy)

Where: Italy (46.5° N, 11.4° E: paleocoordinates 7.5° N, 22.4° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Lower Member (San Cassiano Formation), Ladinian (242.0 - 237.0 Ma)

• The lower member ("Untere Cassianer Schichten", UCS) overlies the La Valle Formation. Sample 3SW 2.5: 21.7 m from the stake 1. Regoledanus subzone, uppermost Ladinian.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: deep subtidal; lithified mixed carbonate-siliciclastic sediments

• Alternations of siliciclastic and carbonate turbidites, deposited in a relatively deep basin, absence of unconformities and a gradual upward increase in sedimentation rate and carbonate content. No sudden or significant facies change in the entire section.
• The lower member consists of alternating siltstones, claystones, calcarenites marly limestones and turbidity vulcanoarenites.

Size classes: macrofossils, microfossils
