Also known as Coton End Quarry

Where: England, United Kingdom (52.3° N, 1.6° W: paleocoordinates 15.3° N, 11.3° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Bromsgrove Sandstone Formation (Sherwood Sandstone Group), Anisian (247.2 - 242.0 Ma)

• equate with the former 'Waterstones' and 'Building Stones'. Reptile specimens were found mostly in the 'Building Stones' and 'Dirt-bed' horizons while most amphibians were found in the 'Waterstones'

•Palynological data indicates an Anisian age (Benton et al. 1994)

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: "channel"; poorly lithified, fine-grained, brown, red sandstone and marl

• "overbank pools subsequently broken up by flood waters"
• "10-11 m of channeled and cross-bedded water-laid buff and red sandstone in units 1-3 m thick, with occasional impersistent marl and clay bands 0.1-0.5 m thick."

Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils

Preservation: trace

Reposited in the BMNH

Collection methods: quarrying, mechanical,

• quarried for building stone, abandoned by 1890
