Where: Aragón, Spain (40.8° N, 0.3° W: paleocoordinates 30.6° N, 9.7° E)
• coordinate estimated from map
• local area-level geographic resolution
When: Artoles Formation, Late/Upper Barremian (130.0 - 125.5 Ma)
• Bover-Arnal et al. 2016: Sr values from samples suggest a middle/late Early Barremian age for the lower-middle part of the Artoles Formation, and a Late Barremian age for the upper part. Previously the Barremian–Aptian boundary has been placed within the Artoles Formation, but late Barremian ammonites have been found in the overlying Morella Formation, ruling out an early Aptian age for the Artoles Formation.
• member-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: estuary or bay; lithified, calcareous sandstone and conglomerate
Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils
Preservation: coprolite
