Where: Western Australia, Australia (32.0° S, 115.8° E: paleocoordinates 32.0° S, 115.8° E)
• local area-level geographic resolution
When: Tamala Limestone Formation, Middle Pleistocene (0.8 - 0.1 Ma)
• AGE: Extended discussion of age in text (Kendrick et al., 1991), but generally regarded as Middle Pleistocene on the basis of field stratigraphic relationships with younger units of known age, amino acid racemization, ESR data, faunal biostratigraphy and preservation state. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From Oxygen Isotope Stage 7. STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: Kendrick et al. (1991) do not follow convential regional lithostratigraphic treatment of the Quaternary and treat the Tamala Limestone as a formation, containing members, including the Peppermint Grove and Minim Cove Members (also oxygen Isotope Stage 7).
• bed-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: estuary or bay; poorly lithified, medium-grained, coarse, shelly/skeletal, calcareous sandstone
Size class: macrofossils
Preservation: cast, mold/impression, original aragonite, original calcite
Collection methods: quarrying,
• COLLECTOR: Faunal list is a composite of decades of collecting effort, including that reported by Darragh and Kendrick (1971), Kendrick (1981), Ponder (1985), and Kendrick unpublished data. REPOSITORY: Collection assembled from material reposited in Western Australian Museum (WAM).
