Nyalindung Fm - cycle 4, bed 3 (Miocene of Indonesia)

Where: Indonesia (7.0° S, 106.6° E: paleocoordinates 9.1° S, 114.2° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Nyalindung Formation, Middle Miocene (16.0 - 11.6 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: Formerly referred to as Nyalindung Mbr of Cimandiri Fm (Sukamoto, 1990). Overlying Jampang Fm. THICKNESS: From <1 m thick bed within <3 m section; total composite section thickness is estimated at around 40 m. AGE: Age still debated, but most evidence, including molluscan and foraminiferal biostratigraphy suggest a Middle Miocene age. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From upper part of cycle 4 near base of the Nyalindung Fm.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: coastal; poorly lithified, fine-grained, silty sandstone

• SEQUENCE STRATIGRAPHY: From highstand systems tract.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Muddy fine sandstone. LITHIFICATION: Poorly lithified, based on figured specimens (some from unlithified sediments, most from poorly-lithified sediments).

Size class: macrofossils

Collection methods: COLLECTOR: Presumably collected by the authors, Z.L. Aswan and T. Ozawa. REPOSITORY: Depart, emt of Geology, Institut Teknologi Bandung and the Graduate School of Environmental Sciences, Nagoya University.
