• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From Nishikurosawa Fm, which rests unconformably above the Daikima Flora of the Daijima Formation (Middle Miocene), and conformably below the Onnagawa Fm (Middle Miocene). THICKNESS: From restricted bed within formation of 20-100 m total thickness. AGE: Middle Miocene on the basis of molluscan biostratigraphy. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From bed within upper part of the Nishikurosawa Fm.

Environment/lithology: coastal; lithified, tuffaceous, brown, gray siltstone and lithified, medium-grained, pebbly sandstone
