Also known as Loc. 9
Where: Somalia (11.0° N, 51.0° E: paleocoordinates 9.3° N, 47.0° E)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Tavo Formation (Hafún Group), Late/Upper Oligocene (28.4 - 23.0 Ma)
• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Tavo Fm [enterers usage] of the Hafún Series [group?] of Late Oligocene, and presumably regionally overlies the Gianti Fm [enterers usage] (Early Oligocene) and is overlain by the Ghibirti Fm [enterers usage] (Early Miocene). THICKNESS: Difficult to ascertain, but a bed of not great thickness. AGE: Late Oligocene, equivalent to Chattian and upper Nari according to author on the basis of larger formaniferal and molluscan biostratigraphy. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From Bed D, near base of section.
• bed-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: shallow subtidal; lithified, shelly/skeletal, white limestone
Size class: macrofossils
Preservation: cast, mold/impression
