Phu Phok (Cretaceous of Thailand)

Also known as Siamosuchus phuphokensis & Theriosuchus grandinaris type locality

Where: Sakhan Nakhan, Thailand (16.9° N, 104.1° E: paleocoordinates 15.5° N, 112.2° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Sao Khua Formation (Khorat Group), Late/Upper Barremian (130.0 - 125.5 Ma)

• lower part of outcrop

•Stratigraphy comments: Sao Khua Fm. was originally believed to be Early Cretaceous in age based on the vertebrate fossils by Buffetaut and Suteethorn (1999). More recently, the age has been constrained to the late Barremian based on non-marine bivalves by Tumpeesawan et al. (2010).

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: wet floodplain; concretionary, pebbly, brown, red siltstone

• "a very extensive floodplain with low energy meandering rivers"
• "a reddish-brown siltstone, 5 m thick, showing a clear sorting of the sediments with scattered pebbles inside...the lower part of this outcrop, which contains calcrete nodules and nodular silcretes."

Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils

Collected in 2002-2003

Collection methods: surface (float), chemical, mechanical, peel or thin section,
