Anofia, Afikpo Division (Cretaceous of Nigeria)

Where: Enugu, Nigeria (5.8° N, 7.9° E: paleocoordinates 6.5° S, 1.3° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Bostrychoceras polyplocum ammonoid zone, Nkporo Shale Formation, Late/Upper Campanian (83.5 - 70.6 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Nkporo Shales. AGE: Maastrichtian, on the basis of ammonite biostratigraphy. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From near the top of the unit.

• ENVIRONMENT: Presumably an offshore siliciclastic marine facies.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Shale. LITHIFICATION: Lithified, on the basis of figured specimens.
