Gin Cove-Rum Cove [Tumbledown Cliffs Mbr, Whisky Bay Fm] (Cretaceous of Antarctica)

Where: Antarctica (64.2° S, 57.8° W: paleocoordinates 69.0° S, 52.4° W)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Tumbledown Cliffs Member (Whisky Bay Formation), Cenomanian (100.5 - 93.9 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Tumbledown Cliffs Mbr of the Whisky Bay Fm, which is regionally overlain by the Hidden Lake Fm (Coniacian), and overlies the Kotick Point Fm. AGE: Cenomanian, on the basis of stratigraphic position and macrofossil biostratigraphy. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From beds throughout the member in this section.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: coastal; lithified, lenticular conglomerate and lithified sandstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Shallow siliciclastic marine setting.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Channeled conglomerate beds, presumably in sandstone, based on Figure 6 of Ineson et al. (1986). LITHIFICATION: Assumed to be lithified.

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: cast, mold/impression

Collection methods: COLLECTOR: Multiple collectors, including J.A. Crame and M.R.A Thompson. REPOSITORY: Not stated, but presumably British Antarctic Survey and Oxford University Museum (OUM).
