Also known as Qingtoushan
Where: Gansu, China (39.7° N, 97.7° E: paleocoordinates 32.9° N, 78.4° E)
• coordinate estimated from map
• small collection-level geographic resolution
When: Qingtoushan Formation, Roadian (272.3 - 268.8 Ma)
• Currently, the Dashankou locality is attributed to the early Roadian based on the occurence of basal members of different therapsid clades and a very basal therapsid as well as forms characteristic for the Middle Permian of Russia (Belebey, Anakamacops) (Liu et al., 2009, APP).
•Formerly called the Xidagou Formation, but now referred to as the Qingtoushan Formation - see Liu et al. (2012) for details.
• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: fluvial; red mudstone
Size class: macrofossils
Collected by Z. Cheng, P. Li, among others in 1991, 1992, 1998; reposited in the IVPP
