• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Rio Salado Tongue of the Mancos Fm, which is overlain by the Atarque Sandstone. AGE: Middle Turonian, on the basis of ammonoid biostratigraphy; Collignoniceras woollgari. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From near top of Rio Salado Tongue, in upper Mancos Shale.

Environment/lithology: marine; lithified, concretionary, gray, yellow shale

• ENVIRONMENT: Marine siliciclastic.
