• The reef sediments of the Pößneck/Ranis area belong to the first carbonate cycle of the Zechstein (Werra Cycle =Ca 1). After K¨ading et al. (2002), these cycles can be chronostratigraphically correlated with the first stage of the Lopingian (Wuchiapingian) (cf. Henderson, 2005).
