Sister taxon: Pelocetus mirabilis

Type specimen: USNM 11976, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is Governor Run, north of, Zone 13, which is in a Langhian estuary/bay claystone in the Calvert Formation of Maryland.

Distribution:

• Miocene of United States (4: Maryland, Virginia collections)

Total: 4 collections each including a single occurrence
