Type specimen: SAMP PQ 3003, a partial skull (partial skull including the anteriorly worn rostrum, most of the dorsal surface of the cranium and the nearly complete vertex). Its type locality is Southern Africa, offshore, which is in a Miocene/Pliocene marine phosphorite in South Africa.

Ecology: aquatic piscivore-carnivore

Distribution: found only at Southern Africa, offshore
