Belongs to Pontosaurus according to S. E. Pierce and M. W. Caldwell 2004
Sister taxon: Pontosaurus kornhuberi
Type specimen: GBA 1873/4/2, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is Lesina (K.K. Geologischen Reichsanstalt GBA collection), which is in a Cenomanian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Starigrad Limestone Formation of Croatia.
Distribution: found only at Lesina (K.K. Geologischen Reichsanstalt GBA collection)
