Type specimen: IGM-KU 97001, a maxilla (right maxillary fragment preserving the anterior base of the pterigoid process and a partial root of upper M1, complete M2 and poorly preserved M3). Its type locality is Duke Bolivia Site, La Venta, which is in a Laventan terrestrial mudstone in the La Victoria Formation of Colombia.
