Sister taxon: Tarapotomys mayoensis
Type specimen: MUSM 2939, a tooth (Right M2). Its type locality is Shapaja (TAR-21), which is in a Rupelian/Chattian floodplain sandstone in the Pozo Formation of Peru.
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
Distribution:
• Oligocene of Peru (3 collections)
• Eocene of Peru (1)
Total: 4 collections each including a single occurrence
