Type specimens:

  • Andrias matthewi: AMNH 81571, a mandible (mesial fragment of a left dentary). Its type locality is Mesoceras Quarry, which is in a Hemingfordian terrestrial horizon in the Snake Creek Formation of Nebraska.
  • Cryptobranchus mccalli: UN 61000, a maxilla (complete right maxilla). Its type locality is Norden Bridge Quarry, which is in a Barstovian channel sandstone in the Valentine Formation of Nebraska.
