Type specimen: SMM P71.16.28, a skull (Complete skull with lower jaw intact except for posterior part of left half). Its type locality is Wannagan Creek Quarry, which is in a Tiffanian mire/swamp shale/shale in the Bullion Creek Formation of North Dakota.
