Sister taxon: Khoikhoicetus kergueleni
Type specimen: SAM PQ 2678, a partial skull (most of the rostrum, the anterior part of the cranium and the vertex). Its type locality is Cape Agulhas, which is in a Miocene/Miocene marine phosphorite in South Africa.
Ecology: aquatic piscivore-carnivore
Distribution: found only at Cape Agulhas
