Type specimen: SAM PQ 2069, a partial skull (partial skull including the deeply worn rostrum base, the premaxillary sac fossae, and the vertex). Its type locality is Slangkop, which is in a Miocene/Pliocene marine phosphorite in South Africa.

Ecology: aquatic piscivore-carnivore

Distribution: found only at Slangkop
