Sister taxa: Spanocricetodon janvieri, Spanocricetodon sinuosus
Type specimen: IVPP V4342, a mandible (sin with m1-m3). Its type locality is Dongxuanguan beds, Fangshan, Jiangning county, Nanjing, which is in a Miocene terrestrial sandstone/claystone in China.
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
Distribution: found only at Dongxuanguan beds, Fangshan, Jiangning county, Nanjing
